We invite investigative journalists and representatives of Ukrainian civil society to join a free course dedicated to studying virtual assets. The course, consisting of two online sessions, will take place in March 2025. Simultanious English-Ukrainian translation will be provided during both sessions.
This training will offer participants an in-depth understanding of virtual assets and their impact on Ukraine’s financial sector. The course will cover key concepts, financial crimes related to virtual assets, as well as international standards and practices regarding their use to prevent financial crimes.
Session 1. In the first workshop, we will provide an overview of key concepts for virtual assets and the industry, with reference to useful websites that can support data collection. After a foundation is formed for basic virtual asset terminology, the session will outline common financial crime typologies that can integrate virtual assets as a vehicle to move funds, along with case study examples. The session will also explore international standards and practices, as well as the interaction between the public and private sectors in this field.
Session 2. In the second workshop, we will focus first on the current regulatory approach to virtual assets for Ukraine. This will provide an overview of previous use cases of virtual assets by organisations in the country, as well as possible innovative approaches. During this session we will also discuss, types of financial crimes, potential regulatory vulnerabilities, and innovative approaches to addressing them.
