The Financial Integrity Platform — Young Leaders Chapter (FIP-YLC) continues to create new educational opportunities for active young people from across Ukraine. On 10 March, the meeting “Compliance Lab: From the Basics to Building a Career” took place, where participants discussed the role of compliance in modern business and explored career opportunities in this field, even without prior experience.

The speaker of the event was Artem Khavanov, an expert with many years of experience in the field of compliance. Throughout his professional career, he has worked at Ukrposhta, Ukreximbank, Metinvest, Ukroboronprom, and Naftogaz of Ukraine. He currently serves as an independent consultant at the Basel Institute on Governance.

Compliance is closely linked to upholding the principles of integrity in corporate activities. This is reflected in various aspects of business operations, particularly in preventing financial misconduct and other risks within organisations. Today, an increasing number of Ukrainian companies are establishing compliance departments and seeking professionals who can help build a new culture of transparency and responsible business conduct. In international companies, such systems have long been a standard of corporate governance, which is why young specialists are often encouraged to start their careers there.

In business, compliance involves a comprehensive system of measures, procedures, and control mechanisms aimed at ensuring that organisations and their employees comply with legislation, ethical standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.

The key objectives of compliance include:

The event provided young people with an opportunity to better understand the role of compliance in modern business and to learn about practical steps for starting a career in this field.
