Ukraine Programme for Learning Integrity in Financial Training (UPLIFT)

Developed jointly by the Center for Financial Integrity and the Centre for Finance and Security (CFS) at RUSI, this programme aims to raise awareness and help participants take their first steps towards a career in the financial sector.

About the UPLIFT Programme

The Center for Financial Integrity has developed UPLIFT, a free educational programme for those who wish to start a career in finance or expand their understanding of financial crime, regardless of previous experience or age.

The programme was created in partnership with the UK-based think tank — the Centre for Finance and Security (CFS) at RUSI — providing access to international expertise and professional insights in the field.

How the training will take place

We use a comprehensive, multi-stage approach that provides access to up-to-date information, develops practical skills, and fosters a community of professionals. All materials are available in Ukrainian. Workshops conducted by English-speaking experts are held in English with simultaneous Ukrainian interpretation.

Phase 1. Series of Online Workshops

The series of online workshops, prepared by international experts, cover the following topics:

  • Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (AML/CFT) and how these processes work in practice;

  • Key mechanisms of preventing money laundering in Ukraine and internationally, including tools for financial monitoring and control;

  • International standards such as the FATF 40 Recommendations, their implementation in Ukraine, and MONEYVAL compliance assessments;

  • The asset recovery process, its main stages, and the current state of efforts to return frozen Russian funds to Ukraine.

Sessions take place in real time. After each session, participants receive materials and recordings for later review.

Phase 2. Mentorship Programme

Following the online sessions and based on test results, participants are selected for the mentorship programme. Participants work in small groups (2–3 participants) with an international or Ukrainian expert, depending on their English proficiency level.

Phase 3. Study Visit

Upon completion of all stages, 10 of the most motivated English-speaking participants are selected for a fully funded study trip to Warsaw. The intensive three-day course combines learning and professional networking opportunities.
