Financial System: Reload. Virtual Assets, New Risks and the Rules That Govern Money

On 29 September, the Center for Financial Integrity delivered a lecture for law students at Leonid Yuzkov Khmelnytskyi University of Management and Law. The session focused on current financial risks, virtual assets, international financial security standards, and mechanisms for combating financial crime.

The session provided participants with a practical understanding of how the modern financial system works, what opportunities digital financial instruments create, and what risks they may pose.

Participants explored the principles behind blockchain technology, the different types of virtual assets and how they function, as well as their regulation in Ukraine. Particular attention was paid to the potential of digital assets for the economy and the risks associated with their use, including opportunities for money laundering and other forms of illicit financial activity.

We also discussed career opportunities, as the expected adoption of legislation to legalise the virtual asset market could contribute to the creation of new jobs in the sector.

The knowledge gained will help participants navigate the modern financial environment, understand the role of international financial security standards, and apply this knowledge in their future professional careers.
